Sinnipee, located in southwest Grant County on the Mississippi River, was a shipping port for lead mined in the region of Mineral Point, Wisconsin Territory. It was surveyed by the noted daguerreotypist, John Plumbe, Jr. The town flourished between 1838 and the early 1840s when it was struck by an epidemic and died out. – it is a “ghost town” today.
