North Providence Bank

18 _ _

This bank was incorporated in 1834, located in Pawtucket, a town within North Providence. While the bank survived two wars and a number of financial panics, it failed in 1867. The note bears the seldom seen imprint of Terry, Pelton & Co. Prov(idence) & Boston. It also features the historic vignette depicting Oliver Hazard Perry transferring his flag from his damaged flagship, Lawrence, to the Niagara during the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. This Proof also served as the plate note in Durand’s state catalog.
