PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ, Proof
The Merchants Bank was incorporated in 1817 and remained a state bank until its failure in 1902. This $50 design incorporates an exceptional nautical vignette of a steamer and a large sailing vessel in harbor at center, a vignette of a teacher and her students at left, and a vignette of an early locomotive and tender at right. It is likely this note appeared as part of Lot 1811 in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale and probably remains unique to the best of our knowledge.
