This bank, incorporated in 1831, was intended to serve as the fiscal agent for the Blackstone Canal. The canal was only in operation for two years before succumbing to competition from railroads, whereafter the bank became a separate entity in order to survive. It went on to become the Blackstone Canal National Bank in 1865. The $2 design features a busy harbor scene flanked by Music and a vignette of Washington with his horse. A dog lies by a safe at bottom center symbolizing Fidelity. Considered Unique
