PMG About Uncirculated 55, Remainder
There was significant whale oil processing and other byproducts manufacturing conducted along the Hudson River in the 19th Century. Thus, here you see a whaling scene — but more tranquil than most and perhaps closer to shore.
This rare Rawdon, Wright & Hatch whaling vignette has only been observed on a few issuers. The vignette also was used on a Poughkeepsie note. The right end vignette is Martin van Buren.
