Southport Bank, Southport

1850s

A beautiful red and black layout is highlighted by a large nautical vignette of an early steamer, a large red and white TEN protector, and a darker red denominational counter. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock that appears to have been, in turn, mounted to a Danforth Bald archive book card at one time. There was a single example of this design (with the overall tint) in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. Decidedly rare and likely to stay that way.
