Miners Bank of Savings of Alta-California, St. Francisco

18 _ _

One of the very few true obsolete notes available from California, this small scrip note depicts a large ocean-going vessel and was payable in gold dust. “Alta-California” is believed to be the Spanish designation for “Upper” or “Northern California.” Datelined “St. Francisco,” the bank is presumed to have been in San Francisco, with this being a printer error. In any case, this note is quite popular and always attracts interest.
