Branch of the Bank of the State of Arkansas, Fayetteville

July 4, 1838 (Serial #244)

A fully issued, choice and rare engraved branch type. The classic Rawdon, Wright & Hatch shows seated Ceres, and Vulcan appears in the vignette at the right; behind is Mercury holding a small bag representing wealth (a signed vignette “…by Freeman Rawdon”). At the left end is a lathe strip with perpendicular TWENTY. The Arkansas State Bank branch issues are complex, with several locations and “on demand” and “post note-interest” types. This is a high Rarity-6 type and is in superior condition for the issuer and denomination.
